This hand-painted lacquer box shows a traditional scene of Russia. On beautiful, sunny Sunday morning people from this small town going to church– big family, a mother with a child and two lovely girls we can see in this box. The girl’s dresses are painted in great detail with a vibrant blue that makes a beautiful contrast with the white snow. The finely detailed background is done with soft whites, blues, and golden yellow to create a wintry mood.  The box is hand made out of papier-mâché and golden filigree ornament frames the composition. The painting is protected with layers of clear lacquer. Signed by the artist.
